BookTrail Terms of Service

By downloading or using BookTrail ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before use.
1. About BookTrail
BookTrail is a personal reading tracker app. Core features include:
- Book management — Track books you are reading, want to read, or have finished
- Reading timer — Record reading sessions with a built-in timer
- Progress tracking — Log your current page and view completion percentage
- Notes — Write notes and attach photos while reading
- Reading statistics — View reading heatmaps and annual reading summaries
- Achievements — Milestones based on your reading history
- Multi-device sync — Access your data across all your devices
2. Account Registration
- You must create an account to access the full features of the App
- You may register with an email/password, Google account, or Apple ID
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
- Please notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
3. In-App Purchases
- BookTrail offers a free tier and BookTrail Pro
- Pro features include extended book limits, advanced statistics, and other premium features as described in the App
- Pro is a one-time purchase — pay once, own it forever with no recurring charges
- Purchases are processed through Google Play and are subject to Google Play's billing terms
- Refunds are handled in accordance with Google Play's refund policy; we do not issue refunds directly
- Prices may vary by region and are displayed before purchase
4. User Conduct
By using the App, you agree not to:
- Upload, store, or share illegal, infringing, defamatory, or otherwise harmful content
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or distribute the App or its source code
- Interfere with the normal operation of the App or its servers
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent account restrictions or suspensions
- Upload copyrighted material without proper authorization
5. Your Content
- All content you create in the App (notes, reading records, book entries, etc.) belongs to you
- You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and transmit your content solely to provide the App's services
- You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload any images or content you add to the App
6. Intellectual Property
All App content, design, interface, code, and trademarks are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our prior written permission.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee:
- Uninterrupted or error-free service
- That data will never be lost due to technical failures
We take all reasonable measures to prevent data loss, but we strongly recommend regularly exporting and backing up your important reading data.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App, including but not limited to data loss.
9. Changes to the App & Terms
- We may update, modify, or discontinue features of the App at any time
- We will notify you of material changes to these Terms through an in-app notice
- Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms
10. Account Termination
- You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time via Profile → Settings → Delete Account. All your data will be permanently removed from our servers.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms
- Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall first be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be submitted to the courts of competent jurisdiction.
